The St. Gall Christian Service Ministry sponsors several Social Service activities throughout the year
which provide parishioners opportunites to share their time, talent and treasure with those less
fortunate, shut in, or unable to speak for themselves.
Meals on Wheels
Monday through Friday volunteers pick up and deliver meals prepared by Elburn Kountry Kettle for those
who are shut-in or unable to cook for themselves. This provides an opportunity for a regular well being
check and some social contact for the recipient.
Food Pantry Collection
Every month except July parishioners are asked to take a slip from the "Reverse Collection" basket.
Items needed by area food pantries are listed on the slips. This "Reverse Collection" usually occurs
on the next to last Sunday of the month. Parishioners are asked to bring items from their list to Mass
on the last weekend of the month. Volunteers deliver the items collected at church to an area Food Pantry
on Monday morning.
Parishioners may also choose to volunteer their time directly to the Food Pantry, helping to sort and distribute
food to those in need.
Giving Tree (Christmas and Easter)
Prior to Christmas and Easter, trees are placed in the entrances to the church and tagged with items from
the wish lists of those who would not be able to experience the joy of gifts on Christmas morning or of
finding an Easter Basket on Easter. Parishioners sort and deliver the items to various area social service
agencies.
Pro-Life Events
There are Pro-Life events occurring throughout the year. Watch the Bulletin for opportunites to participate.
To Volunteer
If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities contact the Parish Volunteer Coordinator
at the Parish Office. There is always a need for people with the willingness to organize and keep these
parish activities running smoothly.
