God Opens the Door of Faith: Stewards Respond
You are always generous to the needs within our parish, and I thank you for the kind charity you have shown. However, our Catholic family encompasses more than the parish in which we live. By giving our gifts to the Diocesan Stewardship Appeal, we open our hearts beyond our community and serve so many more people than any single parish can.
The Diocesan Stewardship Appeal's purpose is to serve the Church at large; Catholic education, youth ministry, marriage preparation, outreach to the poor, priestly vocations - these are just some of the diocesan ministries and services we support through this appeal.
The weekend of April 27th and 28th we will ask for your commitment to the Diocesan Stewardship Appeal which supports many ministries that help our own parish. We are committed to give $42,102 as our share to this Appeal. The modern Catholic interpretation of the Biblical tithe includes 5% of one's treasure directed to one's parish, 4% to worthy causes, and 1% to Diocesan Stewardship. If it is not possible to introduce this way of giving immediately in one's life, then try to adopt what is called sacrificial giving.
Enshrined within this year's theme, God Opens the Door of Faith: Stewards Respond, is a spiritual focus on sacrificial giving, which shows our gratitude to God for the many blessings we have received.
Sacrificial giving means we "take a step" each year closer to accomplishing the full tithe. Adopting the biblical ideal of tithing immediately might be too much of a burden for some. However, "Taking a Step" year by year with Sacrificial Giving will help you prayerfully mainstream tithing into your lifestyle.
Please prayerfully consider what you may give to Diocesan Stewardship this coming year. Your contribution will truly open the door of faith to those who need it most.
Thank you for your generosity. May God, who will never be outdone in generosity, bless you as you carefully discern your contribution for Diocesan Stewardship.
God's Peace,
Rev. Timothy Seigel
