Our  Local  Work
What We Do
The St. Gall Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society serves the poor in our community in many ways, including but not limited to personal home visits, gifts of food, clothing, gas cards and assistance with rent, mortgage, moving, medical and utility bills.

Members of our local chapter donate their time and talent in fund raising events like Donut Sundays, St. Nicholas Breakfast, Pancake Breakfast and a Walk for the Poor. Then they visit individuals or families in need in the greater Elburn area to help determine their needs and how we can best assist them. Once per month, members also assist at the Elburn Food Pantry by picking up food at Jewel and deliver it to the pantry.

By the Numbers
During the fiscal year ending September 30th, 2022 the 22 men and women that make up the St. Gall Conference of SVdP made 52 home visits to the needy, helping a total of 129 people! We helped them by paying utility bills, rent, medical and legal bills and putting food on their tables.

None of this would be possible without the generous financial support of our St. Gall parishioners. Thank you!
On  the  National  Level
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.

As a reflection of the whole family of God, members, who are known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level. Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings and adherence to a basic Rule.

Organized locally, Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served because, in them, Vincentians see the face of Christ.

Support  Our  Mission
Do you feel the call to serve?
No special requirements are needed besides your desire to help those who are in need. You can help by joining the SVdP Society as a volunteer and providing financial, physical and spiritual assistance to those in need. Our St. Gall Chapter meets the 2nd Thursday each month and the last Sunday morning each month for a fund raising event called Donut Sunday.

If you'd like to help but don't have the time, you can still do so by contributing generously to SVdP through your Sunday collection envelope, attending one of our Donut Sunday events and making a contribution for your donut, coffee, juice and fruit, or by contributing to any of our local walkers during the "Friends of the Poor Walk" each autumn.

If you have any questions about volunteering, please leave a message on our answering service at 331-348-9654.
